Spelt Chocolate Chip Cookies – A Healthier, Simple Recipe with No Refined Sugar

Chocolate chip cookies are easily one of our favorite treats at home.

I wanted a recipe I could make for the kids
something that still feels like a real cookie,
but with slightly better ingredients.

What You’ll Need

🍪 Makes about 28–32 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 160g butter, melted and slightly cooled / or ghee at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup high-quality raw honey
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups + 4 tablespoons white spelt flour
    (if using whole spelt flour – use 2 cups only)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2/3 teaspoon baking soda
  • A generous pinch of salt
  • 1-1.5 cups homemade chocolate chips / finely chopped sugar-free chocolate (depending on how chocolatey you like it 😍)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together: butter, honey, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  2. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Refrigerate the dough for about 30-40 minutes
    (if making a larger quantity, it may need a bit more time).
  5. Shape the cookies and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.
